EVENING TOUR OF THE COLOSSEUM

A fascinating guided tour of the most important archaeological treasures of Ancient Rome, escorted by a licensed guide, with the great advantage of our skip-the-line tickets.

The  tour starts from the Flavian Amphitheatre, known as the Colosseum. It is the biggest amphitheatre in the world and the symbol of Rome, recognized as a World Heritage Sign by the UNESCO.

As the heart of the entertainment of the city, in the amphitheatre free shows were offered to the Roman citizens by the emperor, following a scheduling common to all the amphitheatres of the Empire: hunts, naval battles, executions and the notorious gladiator fights. During the visit of the Colosseum, with the delightful descriptions of your guide, you will find out how these performances were organized within the magnificent architecture of the amphitheatre, observing what survived of its original structure in time.

Once you have reached the exit of the Colosseum, passing by the Arch of Constantine, you will head to the Roman Forum e the Palatine Hill. The Palatine Hill was the most famous of the Seven Hills of Rome: according to the legend, this is the very place where Romulus founded Rome in 753 b.C after the fratricide of Remus. There, many emperors built their city residences. You will see the ruins of the hut of Romulus, the house of Augustus, the private hippodrome of Domitian and much more.

The Roman Forum was the core of the social, political and economic life of Ancient Rome.  You will see where the body of Julius Caesar was cremated, the Temple of the Vestal Virgins, the Senate and the Ancient Market. You will walk along the Via Sacra, where the parades of Triumph took place. Your tour guide will delight you with vivid descriptions of the architecture, superstitions, myths and legends of the roman, bringing history alive.
